PlusPoints –– Product Design

PlusPoints is an educational tool designed to help children build self-esteem. Children with high self-esteem feel more confident, find it easier to make friends and are proud of their achievements. However, a growing number of children are suffering from low self-esteem and this can have a negative impact on their learning.

PlusPoints takes the notion of 'building self-esteem' and translates it into a literal activity. Each child is given a tray of cubes with characteristics. They select characteristics which best describe their partner and build these into the model of a plus. Swapping models means the children learn about the importance of paying compliments and these can be copied out and taken home in the form of cards.
